Awesome Turnout for our 11th Annual Scrabble Tournament!

A special thank you to all of our sponsors and all participants! We had a wonderful turnout this year!

Our emcee this year was the lovely and talented, Kirsha Chachra, from the Blacksburg Town Council. She did a splendid job getting everyone ready to play and helping out at the end, announcing the winners of the tournament and giving out door prizes!

Our Mission

The Literacy Volunteers of the New River Valley (LVNRV) mission is to foster support, advocate for, and instruct adults in the New River Valley who seek opportunities to achieve greater independence through literacy.

We are a community-based literacy program that provides free one-to-one or small group tutoring (Basic Literacy, ESOL, Digital Literacy, Basic Math) at a location and time that is convenient to both the learner and the tutor. We are a United Way/United Fund Partner Agency and an affiliate member of ProLiteracy.

Illiteracy has become such a serious problem in our country that 44 million adults are now unable to read a simple story to their children
