How to Volunteer for the Used Book Sale Event!

Interested in volunteering at our annual used book sale?

Great! Because this year’s sale will be held February 16th (Thursday) through the 19th (Sunday) at the NRV Mall. Book Sale hours are 7am-9pm on Thursday through Saturday and 10am-6pm on Sunday.

We will need volunteers for the following times:

  • Wednesday the 15th to set up the sale (9pm-on)
  • Thursday through Sunday during regular Sale hours o work the sale.
  • Sunday evening after the sale to pack up everything and move out (6pm-on)

There are several different job types available. They are listed below with a brief description as well as the times they will be needed.

Book Sale Set Up Crew:

We need volunteers to help us unpack boosk and set up for the sale. Set up starts at 9pm on Wednesday evening. Volunteers will be unpacking books from boxes and setting them out on the tables as well as conducting other general set up tasks. We will take as many people as want to help, it can be a lot of work, and the more people we have the faster it goes.


Floaters:

Floaters help out at the sale. Their primary functions are to fill in spots on the tables as people buy books and to make sure the tables are neat and there aren’t books falling over or piled up.


Front Area Helpers:

Font Area Helpers help out in the cashier area during the sale hours. They may bag books, help the cashier with sales, oversee the special collection books for sale up front, hand out info about LVNRV, etc.


Book Collectors:

Book Collectors are only needed on Sunday afternoon from 3pm until 6pm. LVNRV operates a small book store in our offices. As part of he mall sale we will be transferring a majority of our books from the store to the sale. So, we will need to bring back books from the sale to the store at the end of the sale. Therefore we need volunteers to comb through the books for sale and pick out books that they think would be good for the store. We will have a list of what types of books and how many are needed. These volunteers MAY also be asked to pick out books for other groups like the Juvenile Detention Center or the Christmas Store.


Clean Up and Pack Out:

We need volunteers to help pack up the books and clean up after the sale from 6pm on Sunday on. Task would involve putting books back into boxes and cleaning up after the sale.

As indicated above, you can SIGNUP to volunteer on our online sign up sheet. Just type your name in the box that correlates with what job and what time slots you want. If you would rather not have your name appear on a public sheet, please just include your initials and then in the contact info email (explained below) indicate that you have used your initials on the sheet.

Once you sign up PLEASE SEND AN EMAIL to lvnrvbooksale@gmail.com with the subject line “book sale volunteer contact info” and include in it your contact info (email and phone). That way if there is an emergency or bad weather we can contact you.
